Privacy Policy

This policy covers today's prototype and the consent-based Degree Audit and EasyAccess features planned for bIDA.

Last updated October 9, 2026

What stays on your device

bIDA saves the choices you make in this prototype in your browser's local storage under the keybida.state.v1. This includes selected majors and programs, manually added credits, semester-plan settings and course moves, conflict status, and whether you completed the tour.

In the current prototype, before EasyAccess is enabled for bIDA, that planning information stays on your device and is not uploaded to an IEXDevs account.

Degree Audit access and import

bIDA is designed to access your Degree Audit panel or make an automated request to check progress and import degree information only after you approve loading it during onboarding or start an import later.

The import may include completed and in-progress requirements, courses, credits, degree-completion progress, declared majors, minors, certificates, and other information shown in the audit. bIDA does not need your UT password and will not start this access before the approval step shown in the product.

EasyAccess account and cross-product sync

EasyAccess is the unified IEXDevs login system. It is currently available only in UTMAX; bIDA integration is planned and is not active until the bIDA interface offers it.

When you create or use an EasyAccess account in bIDA, imported degree data and planning data may be stored on IEXDevs servers so you can return to it and use compatible information across IEXDevs services. We propagate data only where it supports a related feature, not for advertising.

Requests and service logs

Loading bIDA sends ordinary web requests to our hosting provider. As with most websites, operational logs may include information such as your IP address, browser and device type, requested URL, and request time. We use those logs to keep the service secure and reliable.

We do not use advertising trackers or sell this information. When the analytics described below are enabled, product measurements are separated from account and raw academic records before aggregation.

De-identified product analytics

When enabled, IEXDevs may collect de-identified measurements such as coarse general location, approximate connection quality or internet speed, API request counts and hourly usage, product version, and sanitized error categories.

High-level schedule and degree-completion trends may include average degree completion percentage, popular or requested courses, and popular majors, minors, or certificates. Raw Degree Audit records, complete schedules, names, account IDs, and other direct identifiers are excluded from these aggregates.

De-identified aggregate results may appear in public reports and restricted internal developer dashboards. These reports are designed so an individual user cannot reasonably be identified from them.

Your academic information

bIDA is a planning prototype, not an official degree audit. Course and program information shown in the app may be illustrative or incomplete. Do not enter passwords, government identifiers, financial information, or other highly sensitive information.

bIDA does not collect your UT Austin password. Degree Audit information is added only after the consent-based import described above; other information is added when you choose it in the interface.

Retention and deletion

Your local plan remains in that browser until you select Reset all data, clear site data for bida.iexdevs.com, or your browser removes it.

Contact messages are kept only as long as reasonably necessary to answer the request, maintain service records, or protect the service from abuse. When EasyAccess storage is enabled, the privacy contact path below can also be used to request deletion of account-linked bIDA data.
